How To Remove Interior Door Frame

How to remove interior door frame. Remove the door from the frame. The removal of an exterior door is much the same an interior door except that the exterior molding is typically made with brick mold which is thicker than interior casing and the threshold typically comes out with the frame. If you rebuild the door frame you will need to remove the nails or screws holding the jack studs in place.

After the frame is set i usually like to hang the door to check the fit and twea. Unscrew the hinge pins from the jamb with a screwdriver then remove them. Loosen the hinge pins by tapping them with a hammer then pull them out of place.

Next you ll remove the door trim. This will let you remove the door easily. Carefully lift the door off of the hinges and discard it.

Remove the door from the frame. Tap the nail set with a hammer until the pin is forced out of the top of the hinge. Installing the door frame that i made from the parts in the previous video.

Remove the hinge pins from the door by placing the end of your nail set on the bottom of the hinge pin. Remove the studs cut new ones to the right length raise your header install and fasten the new jack studs and reposition your header.
