Hanging An Interior Door
Position your chisel about 45 degrees whilst doing this.
Hanging an interior door. Measure the height of the opening and then measure the width at both the top and the bottom. Also mark the door at the latch hole for the existing strike plate. All wet work should be completed too and the elements of the room should be absolutely dried to avoid any dampness.
Plane or cut it as needed. Make sure your door is going to fit into the opening. With a pencil mark where the top and the bottom of the hinges sit on the door.
To hang an interior door first fit the door in the jamb by standing it up in the existing frame and measuring each edge. Mark the door where it meets the existing hinge mortises on the jamb. Check the rough opening.
Return the door to its opening and shim it evenly all around. Prop the door in the door frame resting it on wedges so there s the correct gap at the bottom. Screw each hinge to the door frame with a single screw and open the hinges.
The walls must be aligned and plastered. If you are in the middle of the general repairing process in your house before you start hanging your new interior door all the cleaning work must be already completed. Push the door and frame into the opening.
Using a sharp chisel about 1 inch in width chisel a series of 1mm deep notches. Basically it requires some basic chisel skills. When learning how to hang an interior door this is probably the most complicated part.
